Founded By Pia Amlott

Pia Amlott is an international education leader and jewellery designer with over 30 years of experience across the UK, Qatar and Morocco.

Beginning her career in primary education, she progressed to Director of Teaching and Learning within British international schools, overseeing curriculum development, safeguarding and whole-school academic strategy.

In Qatar, she designed and facilitated national and international professional development programmes. In Morocco, she led a British school, strengthening English language fluency and academic standards across students and staff.

ESSENTIAL Scotland was founded on a simple conviction: language develops most powerfully through meaningful experience.

Why Glasgow?
A city where the Arts, Culture and language is lived,
not just studied.

London is extraordinary.
But extraordinary is not always ideal for immersive language growth.

Glasgow offers something quieter and more powerful.
Accessibility, authenticity and genuine human connection.

At ESSENTIAL Scotland, we choose Glasgow intentionally.
Because transformation requires invested people and space.

At ESSENTIAL Scotland, you are part of a curated experience where language, culture and confidence evolve together.

London is impressive | Glasgow is transformative.

A journey from Qatar to Scotland.

Embark on extraordinary adventures with our tailored travel experiences, designed for your enjoyment.

Our recent guest, Hamda did just this. A professional educator from Qatar with a deep love of making art came to ESSENTIAL Scotland to grow both her fluency in English and creative practice in a living, breathing context.

Over her stay, she explored Glasgow through galleries, neighbourhoods and conversations that felt real, not staged.

This trip was uniquely special because of the director’s personalised approach, creating a trusting, authentic space to experiment in English while doing what she loves.

My recent experience with the Essential Scotland summer program was truly exceptional and profoundly enriching.

As an Arabic native speaker I found it an incredibly well-designed program for anyone seeking to improve their English while immersing themselves in Scottish culture in a meaningful and memorable way.

The program was remarkably informative, fun, engaging and intellectually stimulating. Every activity was thoughtfully organized by Pia, to provide a deeper understanding of Scotland's rich cultural heritage, history and spectacular artistic identity.

One of the most outstanding aspects was the fascinating visits to the Barras, Belfast, various museums and owner-led art galleries, which offered an inspiring and immersive learning experience beyond the

classroom.

A particularly unique highlight was the opportunity to visit the exclusive members-only

Glasgow Art Club, providing rare insight into Scotland's sophisticated artistic and cultural scene. In addition, the beautiful local parks and green spaces created the perfect space for exploration, reflection, drawing and painting experiences.

I will never forget beachcombing and making silver seaglass jewellery back in the workshop.

The English learning component was equally impressive. The workshops were dynamic, highly interactive and exceptionally supportive, helping me build confidence in every day communication while experiencing authentic language use in local contexts.

Overall, Essential Scotland is an outstanding, transformative, and unforgettable summer program. It perfectly combines language learning, cultural immersion and inspiring curated experiences, making it an excellent choice for anyone wishing to broaden their horizons while enjoying the beauty and culture of Scotland.
